$8,000 Tax Credit Expires Soon! July 14, 2009

First Time Home Buyer and DaughterThis is a reminder to those who are sitting on the fence and not getting out to look for some phenomenal bargains on homes that are perfect for first time home buyers.

With prices having come down and interest rates so affordable (around 5% as I write this compared to up to 18% when I first bought  a home in 1983!), it has created a good environment to investigate whether home ownership is for you.   More on the tax credit right here.  This will give you an idea if you can qualify for the tax credit.  Pay attention to the date of 30 November 09 as the tax credit does expire and after that point you will not be able to take advantage of it.

The tax credit applies to those who have not owned a principal residence for the past 36 months.  While the $8,000 cannot be used for a down payment, it is inspiring people to look for a home and many are finding they CAN afford something they like.   I was so pleased to recently connect Heather and Seth, who will become parents in early August, with an agent who was able to walk them through each step of the way.  They were thrilled to take advantage of the tax credit which helped them get into a great starter home this month – just in time to get settled prior to their first child being born in early August.

No matter where you live in the country, if you are interested in finding out more about this federal income tax credit to purchase your first home, I would be happy to connect you to a Realtor in your area who is not only  familiar with the tax credit but also be able to show you the homes you would be qualified to buy.

It is imperative to get pre-qualified for the amount you would be able to afford so that you do not spin your wheels when looking.  You may know who can help you with on this or we can assist in connecting you to a respected lender.  This part of the equation is very important.  I find the realtor and lender are key to the transaction and how it will flow.  They are not all created equal and I look for the ones who have the necessary knowledge and resources to assist those I refer.  I want good feedback from you!

I am here if you would like me to connect you to the professionals in your area who can help you get the information needed.  What a difference it makes when you are working with those who have YOUR best interest at heart
