Soaking up the Sun in Santa Cruz August 20, 2010

Santa Cruz, California is a magical spot in Northern California where I would meet my lifelong friend “Lanita” and her daughter, Ingrid, a couple times a year.

Since recently graduating from UCSC, Ingrid has moved to Panama and has a business translating Portuguese and Spanish – her two areas of study.  Hats off to anyone who is fluent in more than one language!

It is Ingrid’s birthday today so “Lanita” has gone to celebrate with her.  Much as I would loved to have been there, it wasn’t an option at this point.  So I send my love and this photo in celebration of memories of so many great times in Northern California.

I love how this man is just soaking up the rays on a Santa Cruz beach with a campfire barely going in the foreground with seemingly no cares in the world.

It appears to me as though he is multi-basking - enjoying the warmth of the sun on his skin, the smell of ocean and campfire nearby, and the sound of the surf.

What’s your idea of multi-basking?
