If you haven’t been to Shasta County lately, you’re in for a sweet surprise. A lot has changed since 1982 when we first arrived here. It’s more than doubled in size for one. That still doesn’t mean there’s more than 5 minute traffic. The mountains are still there providing all kinds of winter and summer activities. We have Shasta Lake and Whiskeytown Lake nearby. And you will see fly fishermen in the Sacramento River over their noon hour! There is culture. There are great restaurants. There’s a thriving Young Professional culture putting on such things as the Sundial Film Festival, the Banff Film Festival, TEDxRedding and more.
Industry, the arts, restaurants and people moving to Shasta County are adding new flavor. It is a great place to work, live, and play. I wonder how many have come to Shasta County on vacation and ended up moving here for the awesome lifestyle it provides – so many wanted to get away from the intense life in cities and have never looked back!
